EHSRC provides many opportunities for members and partners to work collaboratively with top researchers. Through the Pilot Grant Program (PGP) and Career Enhancement Program (CEP), EHSRC has supported over 70 Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) and over 100 innovative research projects from over 20 disciplines. The CEP also encompasses the highly successful Human Toxicology Seminar series, which showcases cutting-edge research and fosters collaboration among ESIs and seasoned researchers alike, throughout the Midwest and beyond.
EHSRC members and collaborators have access to our state-of-the-art Core Facilities, including the Exposure Science Facility (ESF), the Pulmonary Toxicology Facility (PTF), and the Translational Research Support Core (TRSC).
The Community Engagement and Research Translation (CERT) Fellowship, launched by the Community Engagement Core (CEC) in 2023, facilitates community engaged and translational research related to environmental health. The CERT Fellowship program has broadened EHSRC’s reach beyond traditional scientific disciplines and topics to include community planning, relationship development, and needs assessments, among others.
EHSRC is continually developing new resources in response to member needs. Ours was the first EHS Core Center to develop a standing disaster Response IRB protocol, and we facilitate access to the University of Iowa’s wealth of biobank resources. EHSRC will continue to develop and disseminate resources as member needs change and evolve.
