Dr. Salem’s research expertise encompasses drug discovery, development, formulation, and delivery. He applies this expertise to develop therapies for cancer and other diseases and to advance regenerative medicine. His laboratory investigates how cancer develops and designs new strategies for cancer treatment, including approaches that use polymer particle technology, CpG oligonucleotides, and adenoviruses to generate stronger and more sustained antitumor immune responses. He also conducts federally funded investigations that evaluate the toxicity of chemicals following exposure through a variety of routes, including pulmonary delivery, and develop countermeasures to mitigate the harmful effects of such exposures.
