Aloysius J. Klingelhutz, PhD

May 13, 2020 By

The Klingelhutz Lab’s research involves studies on how environmental and microbial factors contribute to the development of disease, including metabolic syndrome. Their expertise in cell immortalization and cell culture techniques has allowed us develop 3D cell culture models that recapitulate human tissue for our research. Dr. Klingelhutz is particularly interested in the role that fat tissue plays in infection and disease. Current research focuses on how early-life exposure to persistent environmental toxicants, namely, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), alters fat function, leading to inflammation, insulin resistance, and steatosis.
