Dr. Lin’s research group has developed CT-based, multiscale, subject-specific computational fluid and particle dynamics (CFPD) models of the human lungs, as well as automated airway modeling and mesh generation, thermodynamic and hygroscopic particle models, airway surface liquid models, and mass-preserving image-registration methods. More recently, his group has developed multiscale imaging-based clustering and deep learning approaches to connect individual- and population-level lung phenotypes and identify tissue-pattern clusters and latent traits from CT images in diverse populations, including subjects with COPD and asthma, individuals exposed to humidifier disinfectants, and post-COVID-19 subjects. His group has also developed CFPD–PBPK/PD models for healthy and asthmatic subjects.
