Dr. Paul Romitti is a reproductive molecular epidemiologist with over 30 years of experience in surveillance and research of congenital and inherited disorders and in conducting molecular epidemiology investigations of these outcomes. He directs the Iowa Registry for Congenital and Inherited Disorders and Iowa Center of Excellence for Birth Defects Research and Prevention. As Registry director, Dr. Romitti leads population-based surveillance of major birth defects and maternal and pregnancy outcomes of emerging threats, along with life course surveillance for major birth defects and other congenital and inherited disorders. As Center director, he leads epidemiological studies, high-throughput genomic studies, and studies of gene-environment interaction effects.
