Jackie Curnick, MDP

EHSRC Role: Assistant Director, Community Engagement Core

Jackie oversees a variety of programs such as the Community Engagement and Research Training Program for faculty and staff, the CERT Fellowship, the Stakeholder Advisory Board, the regional Environmental Health Needs Assessment, and environmental health translational products such as the Iowa Climate Podcasts and environmental contaminant fact sheets.

Ms. Curnick holds degrees from the University of Florida (2018, Masters of Sustainable Development Practice) and Florida State University (2014, Bachelors of Science in Social Sciences). Ms. Curnick brings training in global development and experiences, such as a Fulbright grant in South Africa, summer project in Rwanda, and a graduate certificate in African Studies. Her graduate work focused on environmental injustice experienced by Native Alaskan communities in the Bering Sea.

 

 

 

Rose Phillips, MS

Rose Phillips joined the EHSRC in 2024. As the Center Coordinator, Phillips manages the Center’s daily affairs, providing support for grant renewals, coordinating the Pilot Grant Program and Career Enhancement Program, assisting researchers with Human Subjects reviews, facilitating meetings, and tracking new opportunities in environmental health sciences research. Phillips holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Mount Holyoke College and an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining the EHSRC, Phillips conducted research and grant management related to affordable housing in the public and nonprofit sectors.
